Name: Naagloshii, but they are mostly known by the translation into English. Skinwalker.
Information about the race: Skinwalker's are Native American Nightmare's. Read a little folklore, the stuff that hasn't been prettied up by Disney and the like. Start with the Brothers Grimm. It won't tell you about Skinwalkers, but it will give you a good idea of how dark those tales can be.
Skinwalkers are dark compared to that. You've got to get the real stories from the peoples of the Navajo, Ute and other Southwestern tribes to get the really juicy material. They don't talk about them often, because the genuine and entirely rational fear the tales inspire only make the creatures stronger. The tribes rarely talk about them with outsiders, because outsiders have no foundation of folklore to draw upon to protect themselves- and because you never know when the outsider to whom you're telling dark tales might be a skinwalker, looking to indulge in a sense of macabre irony. But from the people who do know about them... they might tell you a handful, in broad daylight, looking nervously around them as they speak, as if afraid that dredging up the dark memories might catch a skinwalker's attention.
Because sometimes it does.
That's how frightening skinwalkers are. Even amongst angels, demons, and humans in the know, no one wants to talk about skinwalkers.
Their weakness:- -Skinwalkers have so much power, that reality itself gets a little strained around them. This doesn't sound like a weakness at first, but one of the side effects from that is a sort of psychic stench that goes with them- a presence anyone's instincts will twig too before they can get into a position to do you real harm. This won't tell you exactly where they are, but you'll know ones around.
-Outside of the old home lands, the tribal areas in the united states, skinwalkers tend to stay rather tired, unable to ever really fill up the rest meter. Unfortunately, they can still kill you just as dead.
-Some Native American magics are very effective against it.
-Unlike many other supernaturals, you don't NEED a "silver bullet" to kill one. Kill it the same ways you would anything else. Just do it a LOT.
Their strength:- Skinwalkers are just about the strongest and faster things out there, pretty much worst thing possible to get into close combat with. Speed and strength wise, one a scale of one to ten, skinwalkers are like a 15 for each.
-As mentioned above, the very act of someone being afraid of one, even if only for a second, will increase their power. It isn't personal fear- anyone in the world fearing skinwalkers, afraid of skinwalkers, is adding to EVERY skinwalkers power.
-Skinwalkers are shape shifters, able to transform into practically anything. Animals, custom designed, altered animals, people, man-beast-things... you know, that kind of stuff.
-When something supernatural, or someone able to use magic dies in the same area as a skinwalker, they can devour the released energy, adding to their own strengths.
-They have scarily large regenerative capabilities, A.K.A. wounds gone about few seconds after they're given. There's no real way to bypass this. Just do as much damage as you can, as quickly as possible.
-They all have several thousand years of experience, doing what they do. You just can't argue with that kind of experience, upgrading them from "very tough" to "Damned near impossibly tough". This comes with eldritch magics, ancient magical arts long since forgotten by every other race in the world. Dark Arts, that are generally considered too nasty, even for demons.
What side are they on?: Most don't really HAVE a side... they're kind of a neutral power in the war, considered damn scary by everyone. Several individuals do take sides though.
Another thing, there should only be about say, five people or so able to have Skinwalkers at a time, because they, while very strong, are RARE as hell.
